Flamheart and Knox

Flameheart padded with Knox on her shoulder across the riverbead. She shivered as a strong, cold wind blew into her face. Knox, in his kangaroo rat form, jumped onto the nearest rock, that would be high enough to make sure he didn't get wet. "We should find somewhere to sleep," he whispered to her. The wind almost droned out his voice. He changed into a sparrow and flew away from the riverbank, while Flameheart trotted behind. "There's a small island with a tree and soft grass ahead," he said into her ear, as he alighted down back on her shoulder. Both of them traveled farther down and found it. The night had crept in and seemed to suffacate the sun. Flameheart layed softly down and Knox changed back into his kangaroo rat form. He cured up beside her in the tall grass. A silent tear ran down Flameheart's cheek. Knox watched it fall into the grass. "Don't worry Flameheart, your sister will be fine," he spoke softly. Flameheart nodded, choking back more tears. She rested her head in her paws, and Knox came and slept in between her ears.

~day time~

Flameheart awoke and shook her pelt of the dust that hung there. She was oblivious to Knox's squeeks as he was thrown off of her head. He changed into his form of a wolf, which was slightly smaller than a normal wolf's size. "Thanks," he said. Flameheart ignored him and sniffed. "I want to find other wolves. We need to find out which way my sister went," she said strongly. Knox instantly understood and changed into a sparrow and flew almost too high. Flameheart sucked in her breath. Knox came back down shortly, and silently lead the way into anouther unknown place. (continued in Satili Forest )
